For this project we had to choose an image of a photo that we took and choose a medium (charcoal, pen or vibe) and then draw the image. Also you have to give the effect of the color and shape of all the objects without any color. To the left is a drawing of the road. The medium I chose to use is charcoal. The type of drawing that I did is a first perspective drawing which means a straight on view instead of a birds eye or corner view. I drew this road attempting to make parts of the image just like the photo such as the road and then the clouds and tree I improvised partially. Also I cut off the buildings on the right of the image to make the road more of the focal point.
I Take Risks
I chose to use charcoal which I am not very experienced at. I thought that the charcoal could have helped me create value better. One of the major challenges that I had was doing the clouds and all the detail needed to do this project. I learned that for the clouds, you have to shade the whole background the color of the sky and then erase where the clouds are. After you erase the spots to the point you want it to, go back in and shade in the darker spots and all the detail of the clouds. This is actually the kind of method I used for the whole drawing also. Also, if you make the image black and white, it is easier to see where you need to shade and highlight. If I were to do this again, then I would work more with making everything more detailed make everything look more 3D.
