In this piece my group went outside and had to make land art. Land art is where you can't use paint or glue or any of those other supplies and can only make an image out of the land. My group went outside on the softball field and walked with out feet to make swirls. I learned from this project is that many different objects can be used to make art and that not all art can last forever. This piece was successful because the final product is what I expected it to and because I have never done this before, it was pretty cool and actually fun to make. If I were to do this again, I would try to make a more 3-D art piece or try to add different colors by leaves. |
The second piece that we did was make objects out of newspaper. In this project we got to make anything we wanted as long as we used newspaper. I ended up choosing to make a spike ball out of newspaper. I learned that newspaper dents pretty easy. Also I newspaper tore pretty easy so I ended up restarting and using a lot of tape. This piece was pretty successful because it looks how I would want it to. If I did this again, I would make smaller spikes to give a cooler effect, or I would paint it so you can't see the tape as well.
The last piece that we made was a clay piece. I chose to make a chicken. The frog on the left is my friends who is also in the art class. I have made objects with clay before but then we made it with a solid inside. In this class I learned how to make a clay object with using two pinch pots which made a hollow center. I also learned that it is needed to have a hole in the body to help prevent the animal from exploding. I believe this animal turned out pretty successful but I wish I could add more effect of the feathers. Also, this was supposed to turn out to be like a fish, so this helps show how art can start as one thing and develop into something else. If I were to do this again, I would try to make the clay to be more smooth. I would also try making other objects.
